Bacelos de Biobra: A Window into Ecotourism in the Serra da Enciña da Lastra
A Small Family Gem in the Heart of the Natural Park
Bacelos de Biobra is a small family business located in the Serra da Enciña da Lastra Natural Park, in the Valdeorras region, Ourense. Here, Manuel Docampo Paradelo and his family are passionately dedicated to the production of organic wines, spirits, and liqueurs, using only the fruits of their own vineyards and respecting the natural cycles.
Organic Vineyards in Perfect Harmony with Nature
Since 1999, when they planted their first two hectares of vineyards, the Docampo family has firmly embraced organic agriculture. Their vineyards, located at an altitude of 650 meters, are perfectly integrated into the natural park environment, without the use of chemicals or artificial additives. The result is high-quality grapes, which are then transformed into natural wines, without sulfites and unfiltered, preserving all the essence and primary aromas.
A Work Philosophy Focused on Quality and Health
"The wine is made by nature, the vine, and the place. Our job is not to make mistakes," says Manuel Docampo, the only organic winemaker and winery in the Valdeorras Denomination of Origin. For him, the quality of a wine is measured not only by its organoleptic characteristics but also by its healthiness. That's why his wines are made without additives or oenological corrections, preserving the health benefits to the maximum.
A Diverse Offer for All Palates
In addition to their multi-varietal red wines made from mencía and tempranillo grapes, Bacelos de Biobra offers a range of traditional spirits and liqueurs, also produced organically. From the classic coffee liqueur to the cream liqueur, all these products are obtained from the distillation of the pomace of their own grapes.
Ecotourism and Unique Experiences in the Natural Park
The privileged location of Bacelos de Biobra, right in the middle of the Serra da Enciña da Lastra Natural Park, invites visitors to immerse themselves in a unique natural environment. In addition to enjoying the tastings and samplings of their wines and liqueurs, guests can explore the park's trails, learn about the local culture, and discover the secrets of the artisanal production of these organic products.
Commitment to Sustainability and the Local Community
The Docampo family not only cares about the environment in their own vineyards, but they also support local producers and artisans, using locally sourced and fair-trade ingredients and raw materials. In this way, Bacelos de Biobra contributes to the sustainable development of the region and the preservation of local traditions.
