Enchanting Family Farm: Discover the Delights of Blue Ridge Growers
A Picturesque Blueberry and Sheep Haven
Nestled in the Scenic Mann Valley
Welcome to Blue Ridge Growers, a family-owned farm that has been delighting visitors for over 25 years. Situated southeast of Hudson and northwest of River Falls, this enchanting oasis overlooks the fertile Mann Valley and the captivating St. Croix River.
A Bountiful Blueberry Harvest
At the heart of Blue Ridge Growers lies a thriving blueberry U-Pick operation. Boasting nearly 800 bushes across six delectable varieties, the farm offers a delightful picking experience for all ages. From the juicy and sweet Patriot to the tangy and versatile Northblue, there's a blueberry to suit every palate.
The blueberry season runs from July to mid-August, with the farm open Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 6 PM, and weekends 9 AM to 4 PM. Customers can enjoy the scenic beauty of the orchard while filling their baskets with these healthy, antioxidant-rich berries. The farm's organic growing practices ensure a pesticide-free, sustainable harvest.
Embracing the Joys of Sheep Farming
In 2016, the farm expanded its offerings to include a small flock of Corriedale and Border Leicester sheep. Jill, the farm's owner, had long harbored a passion for these gentle, wool-producing animals, and she seized the opportunity to make her dream a reality.
The sheep are sheared each spring, and their fleece is carefully processed into a variety of products sold in the farm's on-site studio shop. Visitors can browse an array of soft, high-quality yarns, roving, and even "no-kill" vegan rugs made using the farm's own wool.
Donkeys and Donkey Ball: A Unique Family Legacy
The farm's charming residents don't stop at the sheep - Maggie and Linda, two delightful miniature and standard donkeys, also call Blue Ridge Growers home. These friendly, attention-seeking animals were brought to the farm from Jill's childhood home in central Ohio, where her family had a long history of raising donkeys for the beloved sport of donkey ball.
Guests are welcome to visit and interact with the donkeys, adding an extra layer of fun and wonder to the farm experience.
Celebrating the Seasons and Local Culture
Throughout the year, Blue Ridge Growers hosts a variety of events and workshops that celebrate the changing seasons and the rich agricultural heritage of the region. From the annual Blueberry and Tart Cherry U-Pick seasons to the festive "Holidays at Blue Ridge" event series, there's always something new to discover.
The farm's on-site cottage barn and studio shop offer a cozy and inviting space for visitors to browse handcrafted wool products, enjoy a picnic lunch, and immerse themselves in the serene rural setting.
Sustainable Practices and Community Connections
Blue Ridge Growers is committed to sustainable and environmentally-friendly practices, following organic guidelines in the cultivation of its blueberry and tart cherry crops. The farm also actively participates in local agricultural events and workshops, sharing its knowledge and passion with the community.
Whether you're seeking a peaceful day of berry picking, a chance to connect with nature and gentle farm animals, or an opportunity to explore the rich fiber arts tradition of the region, Blue Ridge Growers is a true gem in the heart of Wisconsin's beautiful Mann Valley.
