Cuadra El Alisal is a family-run equestrian centre in El Alisal, next to Junco (Xuncu), in the municipality of Ribadesella (Asturias), on the banks of the river Sella. The family turned a love of horses handed down from earlier generations into its profession. The horses live semi-free in a herd, and the centre follows the principles of natural horsemanship.
The stable runs guided horse rides along the Sella and its wetlands, through chestnut and oak woods and up to the Cuevona de Cueves, as well as longer treks across Asturias, including the Camino de Santiago on horseback. It teaches riding at all levels, natural horsemanship, and raid and endurance riding, and offers livery and horse-assisted therapy. For schools it runs visits to the Alisal river meadow, a stopover for migrating birds, on foot or on horseback, and it also organises camps.
