Queseria Doña Leonor de Alburquerque

Quesería Doña Leonor de Alburquerque is an artisan cheese dairy in Alburquerque (Badajoz), in Extremadura. It is named after Doña Leonor de Alburquerque, a historical figure linked to Los Baldíos de Alburquerque, common lands where the goats of many local families once grazed and which gave rise to a cheesemaking tradition the dairy sets out to revive, combining traditional methods with a modern touch.

It makes cheeses from goat's milk with local ingredients such as Iberian ham, boletus mushrooms, olives, onion or coffee, as well as semi-cured and cured cheeses and melted cheese spreads. In Alburquerque visitors can see where the cheeses are made, and the shop also sells products from Extremadura such as Iberian pork loin, venison and wild boar chorizo, almond sweets, honey and jams. The dairy also prepares gift hampers and cheese tables for events.
