Seaweed and Sod Farm Bed and Breakfast

Seaweed & Sod Farm: Your Tranquil Cape Breton Bed and Breakfast Escape

Immerse Yourself in the Beauty and Culture of Cape Breton

Welcome to Seaweed & Sod Farm, a charming bed and breakfast nestled in the heart of Kempt Head, Nova Scotia. Situated on a 100-acre working farm, our peaceful retreat offers a true taste of Cape Breton's stunning natural beauty and rich cultural heritage.

Our farm bed and breakfast features two cozy bedrooms, each with a unique view and a queen-sized bed. Guests can book their preferred room or reserve the Gammel Suite for exclusive access to the entire B&B. We welcome pets, including dogs and cats, and our friendly ginger kitty, Ralphie, proudly serves as our Customer Relations Manager.

Unwind and Reconnect with Nature

At Seaweed & Sod Farm, we invite you to decompress and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere. Soak in our fabulous sunsets, sit and chat with your hosts or other guests, wander our 3 km of trails, get absorbed in a book, or sip a glass of wine on our screened-in porch. Listen to the crows of the roosters, the calls of local wildlife, and watch a campfire burn down to embers. Catch some shore time at the nearby semi-private beach and indulge in some star gazing.

Sustainable Farming and Environmental Stewardship

Our 100-acre working farm consists of pasture, meadow, and woods, overlooking the beautiful Bras d'Or Lake Biosphere, a UNESCO Biosphere Region. Farming as earth-friendly as possible, we raise animals, grow some of our own food, sell locally, compost and recycle, and avoid the use of commercial pesticides and herbicides. We recognize the importance of addressing our environmental impact and have partnered with Bullfrog Power to bullfrogpower our Bed and Breakfast and livestock facilities with green electricity.

Explore the Vibrant Culture of Cape Breton

Cape Breton is renowned for its stunning scenery, but it is also rich in culture and experiences. Our residents welcome visitors like family, and Seaweed and Sod is deep in the heart of the surrounding communities. Exploring these communities will give you a full understanding of why Cape Breton has been named both the "#1 island in Canada" and the "#8 Island in the World".

Your Hosts, Terri and Dave

In 2009, Terri and Dave fell in love with Cape Breton during a short vacation and decided to pack up their family farm in Ontario and set roots in Nova Scotia. Between running a bed and breakfast, tending the farm, and actively organizing community events, they still find time to indulge their love of exploring Cape Breton and sharing the greatest spots with their guests.

Whether you're looking for a peaceful retreat, a cultural immersion, or a chance to connect with nature, Seaweed & Sod Farm is the perfect destination for your Cape Breton adventure. Book your stay today and let us welcome you to our little slice of paradise.
