Vacation at the Wachahof - Relaxation in the midst of the Bucklige Welt
Embedded in an idyllic landscape
Vacation on the historic farm
The agricultural operation "Wachahof" has a long history. The farm was acquired by Georg Schwarz as early as 1874 and has been owned by the Schwarz family ever since. In 1950, after a devastating lightning strike, substantial parts of the farm buildings had to be rebuilt. Today, Florian and Christina Schwarz operate the farm in the 5th generation together with the retired farmer Johann, the retired farmer's wife Maria, and Gerald Schwarz.
The Wachahof is idyllically located on the upper reaches of the Kreuzleitenbach. As early as 1351, the farm appears in records as "Waechenhof", later also referred to as "Wahenhof" and "Wähoff". The local dialect name "Wachabauer" has been preserved to this day. The name is derived from the Middle High German word "waehe", which means "pleasant" or "beautiful". The operators of the Wachahof feel committed to this historical claim and want to offer their guests a pleasant stay.
In the midst of an idyllic landscape
The Wachahof is located outside the village of Edlitz, away from the main traffic routes, on a sunny southern slope with a panoramic view of the Wechsel region. The vacation apartments and the vacation house are located in the immediate vicinity of the farm buildings, surrounded by forests, meadows, and orchards.
Embedded in this beautiful nature, the Wachahof offers you the perfect setting for a relaxing vacation. Enjoy the view over the gently rolling hills of the Bucklige Welt, let the day end with a glass of apple juice from our own production, or explore the varied surroundings by hiking, cycling, or mushroom picking.
Diverse farm offerings for young and old
Experience rural life up close
During your stay on our farm, you have the opportunity to experience rural life up close. Help with the daily animal feeding or follow the seasonal work such as hay harvesting, silage production, or grain harvesting.
Our suckler cow herd and pig breeding offer fascinating insights into traditional agriculture. The calves grow up on the pasture with their mothers and get the milk directly from the cow. Our breeding pigs also give birth to piglets about twice a year, which we sell to farmers in the region after a few weeks.
In addition to arable and grassland farming, we also practice forestry and fruit growing. We use the wood from our sustainable forest management, among other things, to heat our farm. From the fruits of our traditional orchards, we also press high-quality apple juice and produce pure-variety premium spirits.
Fun and adventure for the whole family
In addition to the agricultural insights, the Wachahof offers a wealth of fun and adventure, especially for families. Children can enjoy our petting zoo, romp on the playground, or help with feeding the animals.
There are many excursion destinations to discover in the immediate vicinity for young and old: Hike to the Hohe Wand, explore the Einhornhöhle in the Piestingtal, or visit the pilgrimage site Maria Schnee. Sports and leisure activities such as outdoor swimming pools, tennis courts, and bike paths round off the vacation program.
Enjoy your stay on our family-friendly farm and let yourself be enchanted by the peace and beauty of nature. We look forward to welcoming you soon!
